Celerie Kemble and Jan Showers illustrated talk, book signing and afternoon cocktails, at Jan Showers Showroom.

Date: Tuesday, September 21, 4 to 6 pm, at Jan Showers Showroom

Who: Celerie Kemble (NYC) and Jan Showers  (Dallas)

What: This isn't Celerie Kemble’s first beach romp. A fourth-generation Palm Beacher, Celerie heads up Kemble Interiors in NYC, while her mother, Mimi McMakin, leads Kemble Interiors in Palm Beach (redesigned The Colony Hotel). When she fell madly in love with a beach, Playa Grande in the Dominican Republic, she knew she had found her family’s Hyannis Port. As she describes it, “a wild swath of mountainous jungle … rolling down to pastures of clear, wobbling minty-blue, bounded together by a downy crescent  of golden sand … stole my heart.” How could one not buy it.

Jan Showers celebrates 25 years of her design business and showroom, and co-chairs Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas for the second year.

Celerie street cred: B.A. fram Harvard, Cum Laude

Jan street cred: traveled to Paris 45 times to shop for her clients and showroom.

Celerie collabs: Schumacher, Arteriors, Lane Venture, Maitland-Smith, Mirth, Classical Elements, Merida, Mirror Image

Jan collabs: Kravet, Kyle Bunting Rugs

Why you can’t miss: Celerie’s childhood home was a rambling deconsecrated Gothic church surrounded by jungle and overlooking Lake Worth. This was far from gilded Palm Beach, and it’s just the way Celerie designs her projects from the Caribbean to Maine — filled with latticework, de Gournay wallpapers, hot Gauguin colors, coquina stone, antique wicker, and Dutch wax prints. Sigh. Jan sign her newest book, Glamorous Living, (Abrams), celebrates 25 years of her her design business and showroom, and co-chairs Kips Bay Decorator Show House Dallas for the second year.

What: A longtime Dallas interior designer and antiques dealer, John is a collector himself with a roster of clients that have included an ambassador and members of the city’s prominent families.
