The cult of Cabana continues. Join Martina Mondadori Sartogo, founder of the obsessively cool design magazine Cabana, at Moxie, for cocktails, talk and book signing of her lush book, Cabana Anthology. Like any good globetrotting tastemaker, Martina has many facets. She brings to Houston for a sneak peek, her new Indo chic collection of dinnerware, glassware, and table linens (available to order) for a one-night pop-up at MOXIE.

Martina had her finger on the pulse of a new design direction when she launched Cabana magazine in London in 2014. Since then, it’s become one of the most coveted and sumptuous magazines in the world of design. Layered with pattern and decorative elements, filled with rooms bursting with possessions and collections, it’s composed of tactile papers and jacketed with fabric. She has published her first book, Cabana Anthology , a lush collection of interiors from the magazine’s last 10 issues.

A Delightful Evening of Cocktails, Lively Talk and Book Signing with Hutton Wilkinson of Tony Duquette, at David Sutherland

Join us for a romp down memory lane as Hutton Wilkinson discusses decoration, ornamentation, and tells tales and spreads gossip about 30 years of working with the legendary Tony Duquette, designing follies, palazzos, theater stages and jewels. Hutton’s tales of their travels with pal Elsie de Wolfe are priceless. Hutton will sign and inscribe, his lavish book, Tony Duquette’s Dawnridge

Hutton Wilkinson is the keeper of the Duquette flame, and a wildly talented interior designer with projects around the world and collections of furniture and fabrics. He continues to design the magnificent Tony Duquette jewelry collection.

Here’s a peek into Dawnridge

Rooms brim with Tony Duquette’s fanciful bejeweled sculptures and trompe l’oeil. They teem with exquisite chinoiserie, ancient sculptures of Indian deities, crystal chandeliers, and centuries’ worth of European antiques. Animal prints, red coral, gilt, minerals, and taxidermy abound. It wasn’t enough to encase a stuffed cockatoo under glass; it had to sport a gilt Balinese headpiece and perch atop beautiful shells. “Tony’s philosophy was ‘more is more,’” Hutton says. “It was all about layering,” You didn’t just put paint on the walls; you put fabric over the paint, then you put a tapestry over that, and then you hung a painting in the middle. It was over-decorated to the hilt.

“If these walls could talk, I assure you, they’d scream!” — Hutton Wilkinson
